The legacy of Carlos Cohen, originally from Argentina, lives on at Joseph&Sons through the many portraits he created in his life.
Having arrived in Los Angeles in 1956, Carlos began to express his creativity through the mosaic art form. This included many beautiful portraits, which still inspire us today.
His two sons, Jason and Joseph, learned the craft from their father and Joseph later taught his sons as well.
Carlo’s son Jason describes the passion and life of his father as such, ”Carlos Cohen, a brilliant artist and an extraordinary father and human being. Those of us who had the fortune of knowing him are well aware of not only his artistic talent, but of his passion for life, his love for people and his constant pursuit of laughter. His legacy will last for many generations."
The creativity and passion of Joseph&Sons is now expressed by the dedication of Joseph and his two sons Jonathan and Christopher.
Passing on the art form to his sons has given them the experience and knowledge needed to create these portraits.

Carlos was inspired to create many unique custom mosaics until his passing in February, 2011.
The legacy of Carlos Cohen has left a creative mark on the many homes, buildings and portraits in Los Angeles. It continues to live on through the many one-of-a-kind custom mosaics created by the Cohen family.
In a video interview from insider.com the narrator describes the process of artist Jonathan Cohen in this way, “….somehow, from a seemingly disorganized pile of ceramic tile and stained-glass pieces, he creates order and beauty.”
Our process of artistic creation is perfectly described by this quote. First there is the vision, then out of glass and ceramic we work to craft the perfect masterpiece, be it a mural, wall art or backsplash.
